I just returned home from a whirlwind girls trip to Savannah, GA. Savannah has always been one of my favorite southern cities. The history, the southern charm, the food, and shopping are unbeatable. This post will include some of the best places to visit in Savannah, some do’s and don’t’s, and how to best make a quick trip there.
Our trip began with a quick walk down River Street. We stopped in one of my favorite Savannah spots – Savannah Candy Kitchen. This place is the actual greatest! It is four full store fronts of candy, sweet treats, fudge, pralines, ice cream, and more! It is definitely a fun place to poke around, especially if you’re a lover of all things sweet like me!
After visiting the Savannah Candy Kitchen, we continued to walk down River Street. We stopped at the market and visited a few boutiques near the riverfront. Soon enough, we were very hot and tired out. We headed to the hotel to freshen up and get ready for our dinner at the Olde Pink House, a famous Savannah restaurant.
Here are some shots of places we saw while walking around:
After freshening up before dinner, we headed to the Olde Pink House. Everyone says that the Olde Pink House is excellent, and it really did live up to my high expectations! I ordered a mixed green salad with champagne vinaigrette and sliced apples along with a twice baked potato. However, I did get a chance to try the southern fried chicken and 10/10 would recommend to a friend WOW. After our delicious meal, we headed out to Johnson Square to meet our tour guide, Skippy, for our ghost tour. We did a walking ghost tour of the city at 11PM, visiting some of the city’s spookiest sites like the D.A.R. Colonial Cemetery and the Marshall House. I will say that in the past I did a ghost tour in a hearse and if you get a chance to do that, I enjoyed it much more than the walking tour.
The next morning we walked over to Broughton Street to grab some coffee and do some shopping. Our hotel was in such a great location so we were able to walk everywhere in the city (shoutout to the Hyatt Regency in Savannah!). We stopped by the Coffee Fox for some delicious coffee and treats. Next, we headed to easily my favorite place we visited during our trip, the Paris Market. The Paris Market is a cafe and a two-story shop full of paper goods, home decor, books, furniture, and other treasures. I could have spent hours in there. The way the store is decorated is how I want to decorate my house one day. After the amazing Paris Market, we visited some other shops on Broughton including Club Monaco, J.Crew, Urban Outfitters, Free People, The Impeccable Pig, and a few other adorable local shops. From there we headed to lunch at one of our favorite French bakeries, the Mirabelle Cafe. The cafe overlooks the stunning cathedral in the heart of the city and is decorated impeccably. From whitewashed exposed brick walls to marble floors, the restaurant boasts amazing decor and food. I ordered a waffle Croque Madame sandwich, while my friends ordered brie and raspberry waffles. We all sipped on lavender Perrier along with our meal. After Mirabelle, we stopped in a local book store as well as a cute fabric shop called Fabrika (where I got a cute sticker and pug washi tape). Lastly, we ended our time in Savannah with a walk through Forsyth Park and the surrounding area. Forsyth Park is a classic Savannah location, with a stunning fountain and a large plot of land for the city. On the way out of town, we made a quick stop at the Wormsloe Historic Site. Fun fact: part of the Last Song was actually filmed here! We also saw the park square where Forest Gump was filmed.
