Writing a blog post can be incredibly time consuming. Since I love writing, the process is enjoyable for me. But, it DOES take lots of time. Since I dedicate my time and efforts to writing at least one blog post a week, I want to make sure the posts are read and seen! Especially since most of my posts are geared at helping others who are just beginning their journey with Instagram and blogging.
When I hit publish on each blog post, here are 5 ways I make sure that it is read:
Instagram Post
Since I’ve created a series for my blogging and Instagram tips (#TipThursday if you want to check it out!), I ALWAYS share a post on Instagram when a new blog post goes live. This helps my post reach my already captive audience of 19,000 on Instagram. I always notice that my Tip Thursday Instagram posts perform the best out of all of my posts. I see the most saves with this content, so I know that it is working. When I see saves, I know that I am delivering valuable content that creators want to refer back to later.
When sharing a blog post to Instagram, I’ll often opt for a more aesthetically pleasing feed-type of photo. I shorten down the caption copy of the blog post and share a “sneak peek” or “teaser.” From there, I aim to drive traffic to the blog by offering “a bonus tip” or “additional resources” on the blog. When sharing these posts, I use my typical hashtag and engagement strategy to make sure it sees more sets of eyes.
Instagram Story
When re-sharing a blog post to Instagram stories, I like to share a screen recording of me scrolling through the blog post and cover over some of the text. I find that this strategy encourages my audience to swipe up to the linked blog post. With this, they will actually read the post on my blog instead of trying to skim through during the screen recording.
Next, I like to dive into the topics on stories. I like to talk candidly here, and offer my followers a tidbit of knowledge that is included in the blog post. Here, I offer to lend and a hand and answer any questions my followers may have. The last thing I like to do is thank my followers for reading the post and ask them if there are any topics they’d like to see on the blog next.

You guys… I SO wish that I discovered Pinterest for Business sooner. I used to use Pinterest when I was in high school to save recipes and silly memes. Pinterest was my one-stop shop for all things preppy – my style has changed so much since.
Last summer, I started experimenting with Pinterest for Business. Pinterest is such an amazing platform for driving growth and page views for your website and social media channels. If you bring a little Pinterest strategy to your boards and pins, it can make a world of difference in your views!
Pinterest for Business is incredibly easy to use. I love that I’m able to view analytics and see post performance in real-time. This helps me to know that my Pinterest strategy is working! You can even advertise your business by boosting pins. I truly believe every business should be using Pinterest to drive more page views for their website and content.
When trying to boost your page views with Pinterest for Business, you’ll want to keep a few things in mind. Check out my post on Pinterest Strategy for Bloggers!
LinkedIn can be an excellent resource for driving traffic to your blog. However, I would only recommend sharing your posts to your LinkedIn page if makes sense for the industry you are in. For example, if you work in medicine or law, it may not make sense to share a post related to social media marketing.
In my position, I work in account management and social media marketing, so I feel my blog posts about influencer and social media marketing are relevant to my community on LinkedIn.
With LinkedIn, you want to be sure that you are putting your most professional foot forward. Below is an example of how I shared one of my most recent blog posts on LinkedIn:
SEO
Another easy way to promote a blog post is to use SEO! SEO helps your blog rank higher in the search results. When someone Googles “Pinterest Strategy for Bloggers,” SEO is what helps the post pop up at the top of the results.
The Yoast tool has been a LIFE SAVER for optimizing my SEO! The Yoast tool is a plug-in that you can download for WordPress. The tool has quickly become one of my favorite programs for blogging. Yoast provides you with suggestions to optimize your SEO while you are writing a blog post. The Yoast plug-in is so easy to use and it is free to download. Checking my Yoast score is a non-negotiable for me prior to hitting publish on my blog post!
