Ever traveled to a new city and wanted to find the best places to shoot content? Or maybe you want to explore more of your own city? Good news! I’ve got tons of tips to help you find cool spots to explore that double as unique photoshoot locations in any city!
Hashtags
Consider hashtags the true search terms of Instagram. I use hashtags on IG the way I use the search bar on Google. Try strategic terms like #yourcityblogger #yourcitynamestate (ie. #stpeteblogger #stpeteflorida) to unlock new photoshoot locations in your city of choice! This works well as most influencers will use the hashtags on their posts which allows you to easily find their tagged photoshoot locations.
Pinterest is the ultimate search engine for creators. Every time I travel, I search for terms like “St. Petersburg, Florida” “St. Petersburg” “St. Pete” “Photoshoot Locations in St. Pete” “Murals in St. Pete” to uncover fun spots in that city. Pinterest is highly visual so it allows you to catalog all your favorite proposed shots into folders you can easily access on-the-go through the Pinterest app.
Local creators
Look for other creators in the area who regularly share photoshoot locations – you can typically find these through hashtags like #stpeteblogger #lablogger #eastcoastblogger #miamiblogger etc. My favorite place to search for local creators is Instagram, but TikTok can be another great resource!
Local photographers
Similar to finding local creators in the area, search for photographers in the area with their own Instagram accounts. Many photographers will post client photos and share the locations where they shot the photos. Try searching #stpetephotographer #tampabayphotographer or Google searching local photographers.
Local boutiques
Local boutiques always seem to find the cutest locations to shoot content showcasing their products. I’ve noticed that some of my favorite local boutiques like Shoreline Sugars and Shandy Style are always in-the-know about fun photoshoot locations in the area. Check out their feeds to see some of the best spots in the Tampa Bay area! Try this in your city too by searching for local boutiques.
Google search
Though I prefer using Pinterest as my “search engine” because I find the results are more tailored to me, Google can be a great resource for content creators as well. Try getting creative and searching for terms like “St. Pete wedding venues” “Iconic spots in St. Pete” “Places to visit in St. Pete” to find fabulous locations to shoot.
Give these tips a try in your city and let me know how it goes! What are your tips for finding photoshoot locations in your area?
