With every new quarter as a content creator comes more opportunities to create, attract new brands, and bring in more revenue. Here are a few ways I’ve prepared for each quarter to remain on track with my goals as a creator –– let’s jump into the tips to get Q2 off to a great start!
Create Seasonal Content to Attract Brands
2020 was the first year I prioritized creating seasonal content. And, let me tell you, it PERFORMED! I had fun with swimsuit hauls and my mini blow-up pool in the summer. I went to pumpkin patches and decorated my house for fall. The holidays brought my most successful quarter to date, bringing in over 50 percent of my contracted campaigns for the year of 2020. It’s no coincidence that the year I started prioritizing seasonal content was the year I contracted almost $20,000 in brand collaborations. I saw the same strong results by creating seasonal content again in 2021 and so far in 2022.
Spring is one of the most fun seasons to create content for! Pastels, the beach, and florals are the name of the game in springtime!
Raise Your Rates
I aim to raise my rates every quarter. Revisiting your rates is important because it ensures you are being compensated for your worth and expertise as a creator.
Note that Q4 is typically the ideal time for an even larger rate increase. Last year I increased my rates by 50% during Q4, up from the standard 25% increase I’ve gone by each quarter. This is because in Q4, brands have an increased budget and CAN accommodate your requests for increased compensation.
Audit your content
Review last quarter (Q1 in this case) and this time last year. See what performed well, what you can recreate or repurpose. What did your audience engage most with? Do more of that!
I’d recommend diving into Instagram insights to get a good feel for this type of information. I’ll even go through with a notebook and pen and jot down ideas and takeaways I can bring forward into the next quarter.
Check in on your goals
Revisit your goals for the year of 2022. See what progress you are making. You can even create goals specific to each quarter within your overarching yearly goals to ensure you stay on track! Check out my goal setting tips here.
Update update update!
Check on your assets and materials used for content creation. Does your media kit need an update? Have your stats and analytics changed over the past quarter? How does the link in your bio on social look? Need to clean it up? Now is a great time to knock that out. Go into the new quarter knowing you have made the necessary updates to your mediums to put the best foot forward with your followers and brands.
