After quite a few trips cancelled this year in the wake of Covid-19, we were desperate for a getaway. When the Sarasota Modern invited us for a safe, socially-distanced “staycation,” we couldn’t say NO!
If you’re a St. Pete local like me, Sarasota is just a quick trip – only took us about an hour to get down there. We arrived early in hopes of using the pool all day long – leaving St. Pete around 1 and arriving close to 2.
Let me tell you guys…this hotel is like an Instagram playground. I’ve seen lots of beautiful pictures of the hotel over the years and it absolutely lived up to the hype – ACTUALLY, it was even more STUNNING in person!
Upon our arrival, we were pleased to see that masks were required in all common areas of the hotel. They even offer a mobile check in through their mobile app! There were hand sanitizer stations and disinfectant wipes all throughout the property. Even the pool chairs were spread out and social-distanced for maximum safety. Elevators were limited to two guests. We felt incredibly safe and took comfort in the fact that the hotel prioritized health and safety of all guests.
Our room was nothing short of amazing! We had a Deluxe Studio King Suite and we were absolutely blown away by the room, decor, bathtub on the balcony, and sweeping ocean and city views.
We loved the sleek-yet-comfortable atmosphere we felt immediately upon entering the room. For us, the wine-fridge and wet bar were a huge game changer! The king-sized bed was incredibly comfortable and luxurious. The bathroom featured double-sinks and a huge walk-in shower.
But, the best part was the BATHTUB. Yes, I’m talking a full clawfoot tub smack-dab on the balcony. Seriously, genius. I wanted to move in!
Once we settled into our gorgeous room, we thought it would be fun to enjoy some pool time. The Sarasota Modern offers 3 pools – take your pick between the stunning lap pool, the jacuzzi pool, and the extra-cold cryo pool. We loved cooling off in the lap pool and even laying down in the shallow end. Did I mention the pool bar? They had an amazing cocktail selection – I enjoyed a yummy margarita with a salt rim while relaxing poolside. We loved relaxing in the comfy lounge chairs while sippin’ a cool drink and hopping into the pool when the August heat got to us. This was the pool day of my dreams!
I absolutely loved staying at the Sarasota Modern and I’m wishing we could’ve stayed even longer now – one night wasn’t even enough! We are already planning our next trip back – can’t wait!
