Key West Weekend Guide

Hi friends! Happy Wednesday, hope you’re having a great week. Today, I wanted to share with you my little itinerary from Key West last weekend. I had so much fun exploring and wanted to be sure to share my recommendations with everyone! So, let’s get started!

Restaurants:

Blue Heaven

We had dinner on our first night at Blue Heaven and it was amazing! I have to say I don’t even like seafood but loooooooved the Cajun Carribbean BBQ Shrimp and the Yellowtail Snapper. Not to mention, the atmosphere here was so much fun! There were chickens everywhere! I loved the eclectic decor.

Firefly

I think Firefly might be the cutest restaurant in all of Key West! We sat on the porch for brunch and it was wonderful. The atmosphere was so calming and welcoming. I had the bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit which was life-changing! Some other favorites at our table were the biscuits (with butter or jam), the chicken and waffles, and the hash brown casserole.

First Flight Brewery

First Flight was such a fun place to have dinner before heading out to Duval Street for the night. We all ordered beer flights which was so much fun! We also ordered the street corn avocado, charred brussels sprouts, the di parma flatbread, and the shrimp ceviche.

Desserts:

Key Lime Pie Co.

When you go to the Keys, you eat Key Lime Pie. That’s the rules! Needless to say, I was obsessed with the Key Lime Pie here; you have to try it!

Mattheessen’s

This place had the yummiest ice cream! The Cuban Coffee flavor was awesome! You can’t beat homemade ice cream!

Bars:

We didn’t spend too much time at the bars but we did love Irish Kevin’s, Rick’s, The Smallest Bar, and Dante’s! Dante’s is a pool bar so it is definitely a fun way to spend the afternoon and cool off on a hot summer day. We also loved the bar that has a ton of one dollar bills hanging from it but I can’t remember the name 🙁 Fun fact: There was a citywide blackout while we were in Key West and Irish Kevin’s was the only place that had power still on Duval Street. We were lucky enough to be there during the blackout and we stayed for awhile after the city lost power!

Hotel:

24 North

We loved our hotel – it was so cute! There were food trucks, two pools, and a gym. I wished we had been able to spend more time at our hotel but we will definitely stay here again! Plus, we got a DEAL with Priceline Express Deals. If you’re willing to stay in a mystery four-star hotel, I think it’s well worth the savings!

Note – AirBNB can be awesome too! I’ve stayed in my fair share of AirBNBs and would recommend the experience. You can take $35 off your first trip by clicking here!

Things to Do:

Hemingway’s House

We didn’t make it inside the Hemingway Home this time, but if you have time, I would highly recommend it. I have been inside during my other visits to Key West and it was so amazing to see where Hemingway wrote and lived.

Southernmost Point

The Southernmost Point is a must-visit while in Key West! It’s very touristy but fun to visit! You will have to wait in line if you’re hoping to get a photo – but it’s worth it!

Key West Lighthouse

The lighthouse was beautiful and so much fun to see! We climbed the 88 steps to the top (on the super old spiral staircase, I might add) and the views were amazing. If you’re hoping to see all of Key West in just one weekend, this is the way to do it. You’ll be able to see the ocean and everything on your list from a bird’s-eye view! Plus, the lighthouse made for a great photo opp!

Mile Marker Zero

Seeing Mile Marker Zero was so cool. It marks the end of US-1 which stretches from Maine all the way down to Key West.

Duval Street

Duval Street is too much fun. No really, too much fun, haha! Like a Florida version of New Orlean’s Bourbon Street, Duval Street boasts the most fun bars, restaurants, and shops to explore. We had a lot of fun popping into different bars and shops on the street – except for when the blackout happened, then it was kind of eerie!

As far as my outfit in this post, I’m wearing this gorgeous jumpsuit from Cypress Boutique! I paired it with my trusty Rebecca Minkoff bag, tassel earrings from M Street Studio, and my flatform sandals (these are similar, mine are from GoJane but sold out).
