How to Get Comfortable Taking Photos in Public

Taking photos in public can be a little awkward. I struggled for the longest time, worrying about what people might think if they saw me taking photos in public. There are quite a few ways I’ve learned to feel a bit more comfortable in front of the camera. Here are some tips to help you feel more comfortable taking photos in public:

Shoot with a pal – You’ll feel way more comfortable if you’ve got a friend behind the camera to make you laugh and make sure you’re looking your best.

Grab a prop – Here I’m using a fun bag so i have something to do with my hands.

Scout locations ahead of time & know the best spots to go

Know that no one cares. I promise. I don’t even say that to be mean but even if someone sees you and thinks “oh that’s weird” – they won’t be thinking about it 30 seconds later.

Research some poses and keep them ⁣handy in a folder in your photos – reference them quickly while shooting. ⁣

I hope these tips help you to feel more comfortable shooting photos in public.
