YOUR INSTAGRAM BIO is IMPORTANT.
This is a huge area for visibility purposes and yet, I see it constantly overlooked. Don’t make that mistake – here’s how to maximize the limited space you have in your Instagram bio.
With just 150 characters to work with, crafting the perfect Instagram bio can be tricky. The below tips are some that have worked well for me and helped me increase my visibility and opportunities for brand partnerships:
CLEARLY STATE YOUR MISSION
Don’t keep people guessing – Clue them into what your content is all about! Since I specialize in Florida-based lifestyle content, post daily, and I like to spread a lil’ sunshine, I clearly list my mission as “your daily dose of sunshine” 🌞
WHAT TYPE OF CONTENT DO YOU SHARE?
Double down on what’s important – What type of content are you sharing regularly? I share fashion and lifestyle content, so I clearly state that. I also mention that I share tips and list the hashtags where the posts can be found. Hashtags can be a great way to connect with different audiences – if you haven’t seen my post about hashtags yet, definitely check it out!
SHARE A LITTLE MORE ABOUT YOU & WHAT MAKES YOU UNIQUE
I shared that I work in marketing 9-to-5 as it is part of my identity, but also gives me a bit more credibility as I share marketing tips weekly. I find that this is something that makes me unique and sets me apart from other bloggers as I work a day job and manage IG as my side-hustle. If I had room, I might mention that I’m a dog mom and that I love a good spicy margarita. Consider what makes you unique and what you might use as a fun fact in one of those silly games – could totally work here!
LIST YOUR EMAIL
This tip is BY FAR the most IMPORTANT. I can’t emphasize this one enough. When brands view your profile, they are often on the desktop version of IG. This means they will not have access to the “contact” button that is on IG mobile, meaning it will be more difficult for them to get in touch. Make it easier on them and place your email right there in your bio!

UTILIZE THE LINK FUNCTION
List where you can be found – plug your content here! I used to use a link organizer, but I realized I could just link my own website and a landing page with all of links organized there. Drive traffic to your website with this link section!

MAKE YOUR LOCATION KNOWN
With a quick glance at your bio, it should be absolutely clear where you’re located! You have some different options for this – you can definitely list it in your bio, but for me, since space was limited I opted for the “contact options” feature using the public business information section (only if you have a business profile). Since I didn’t feel comfortable listing my home address, I just typed in “St. Petersburg, FL” instead and it shows on my profile! One caveat to this is that it does not show on the desktop version of my profile. I feel like I am personally covered as I list “Florida Blogger” next to my name.
