St. Pete’s Most Instagrammable Murals | Part One

St. Pete is home to an awesome artist community which means we have quite a few murals around town. Almost every building downtown features some amazing art and each year there is actually a mural festival. One of my favorite ways to get photoshoot inspiration is to view the SHINE Mural Festival mural map. I love learning more about each mural and the inspiration behind it. If you are visiting St. Pete for the first time, I’d highly recommend dedicating some time to drive around and view these amazing murals. Every single day, new murals pop up in St. Pete – because of this, I’ve rounded up a few of my personal favorite murals to shoot at!

In my opinion, these are some of the most instagrammable murals in St. Pete:

Sunflower Wall | Happy Mural Project

One of my new favorites! I love the idea behind this sunflower wall – it was created in efforts to spread joy. Their mission is the following “The Happy Mural Project is a movement that is uplifting the community in an atmosphere of positive engagement.” How cool is that?! They have 4 murals in the Tampa Bay community.

The one I’m in front of here is located at: 2735 5th Ave N and 28th St.

Be Here Now + Floral Seventies Wall at Blonde Studios

This mural is one of St. Pete’s newest and CUTEST in my opinion! I loved shooting here as I was able to get three different shots in just one place; one in front of the “Be Here Now” portion, one in front of the colorful wave, and one in front of the white floral wall. The mural was designed by artist April Seelbach. She does some awesome psychedelic prints, usually featuring landscapes with seventies-style graphics layered throughout. This mural is at Blond Studio – a new local hair salon that specializes in beachy color and extensions.

Blond Studio is located at: 3050 1st Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33713.

You Are My Sunshine

A St. Pete classic! This mural pays tribute to St. Pete’s unofficial name “The Sunshine City.”

The address: 719 Central AveSt. Petersburg,ย FLย 33701

Starry Eyed + Mr. Sun – this spot has tons of surrounding murals

Two murals by local artist Chad Mize! The first sources inspiration from Twiggy and the 1960s, featuring pastel shades among an alley full of bright colors. Next to this portrait of Twiggy is a sunny tribute to our city. The blue-based mural features a sun inspired by a 1940s St. Pete logo, which has been adopted by the City of St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce.

Located at: 648 1st Avenue North – check out all of the other fun murals in this alley!

Stay Wild | Wild Roots

How fun is this one? I love the bright colors and bold lettering! This mural was designed and hand lettered by Leo Gomez for Wild Roots.

This mural is located at: 1949 1st Ave, St Pete, outside of Wild Roots.

Colorful Faces Mural

I love way this mural looks for a photo opp – all the bright colors against the white background just make the photo! But my favorite part of this mural is taking a closer look. The mural features a bunch of figures in different colors, each individual paired with a phrase. Reading through some of the phrases can be really fun – I could stare at this one for hours. The artwork was done by Stephen Palladino, a Los Angeles-based artist who’s work has been commissioned by Lady Gaga and the NBA.

Located at: 276 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St N – P.S. this parking lot features two other awesome murals! The blue one is one of my personal favorites, I’m excited to shoot there at some point. I loved reading more about it and the inspiration behind it – check out Morning Breath Inc.

Do you have a favorite mural in St. Pete? If so, let me know! I’d love to see it.
